Care For The Family have organised a Bereaved Parent Support Day which will take place at Dundonald Elim Church on Saturday 12th April 2025, running from 10am-5pm.
Sharing a little about why this event is so important for parents, a Care For The Family spokesperson said:
“Our support day offers understanding, encouragement and support to any parent who has suffered the death of a son or daughter in any circumstance and at any age. The worst loss a parent ever has to face is the death of a son or daughter.
Children are ‘not supposed to die’. But sometimes they do – and the extent of pain and devastation, even isolation, experienced by parents when a child dies is unimaginable.
Whether you attend on your own or as a couple, you’ll be able to meet others who understand the heartache you are going through. Many have found that these events can make a huge difference in helping them cope both now and as they think about the future.
We hope that support days give encouragement and hope to any parent who has suffered the death of a child, at any age or in any circumstance.
One parent said: ‘The event was an opportunity to grieve and remember your child without having to worry about other people around you. A place of safety, love and acceptance.’
Whether your son or daughter died last week, last month, or years ago, if we can help you on the difficult ‘journey’ of grieving, we would love you to join us. If you have ever felt that no one else understands the pain, heartache and the devastation you feel since your son or daughter died, this day is for you.
Our day starts with registration and refreshments from 9.30am, for a 10.00am start and finishes at 5.00pm.
The cost is £22 per person (£37.50 per couple) – this includes lunch and refreshments.”
