‘Shine Your Light‘ is a prophetic statement across the UK, which organisers hope will be visible from Friday 13th-Sunday 15th December 2024.
Now in its second year, the goal of this event is to get 100,000 Christians in the UK and Ireland to witness to 1,000,000 people on the street.
Alan Sheppard, who is helping to co-ordinate the event locally explained a little about the background to it. He said: “Shine Your Light’ has come out of the National Day of Prayer and Worship, which is headed by London-based pastor Jonathan Oloyede.”
“Originally from Nigeria, Jonathan is a Muslim background believer, who came to faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour while studying medicine. He has helped his family accepted Christ. Jonathan is supported in this work by Bedford-based ministry development consultant, Adam May, and Welshman, Carl Brettell,“ said Alan.
Although this as a UK-wide event, the City of the Seven Towers in one place where Shine Your Light will burn particularly brightly.
Says Alan: “The Music For Christmas event at West Church on Friday evening 13th December will be very much part of it. Directed by the wonderfully gifted Sam Murray, this will feature contributions from Choir and Orchestra at West and is certain to be a really super night.”
Alan went on to reveal that the Healing on the Streets team will be on Greenvale Street on Saturday morning 14th December 2024 offering prayer and a listening ear to passers-by. Shoppers in the Tower Centre and the Fairhill will also no doubt be treated to Carol Singing in the run up to Christmas:
“If people want to come down to Greenvale Street on 14th December morning, they will be most welcome to sing and be prayed for. Maybe they need healing in some shape or form, and we will pray for them although it is not us who does the healing but God by His Holy Spirit”, said Alan.
He added: “It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been to Church for years – you can just come to the events at Christmas and recommit yourself to the Lord. My passion and vision are that what happened in 1859 will happen again but in even greater measure. Revival will happen in totally different ways because God doesn’t repeat things. He does things in new ways. There will be new wine in new wineskins. This is what we want to see in this island and beyond”, concluded Alan.
On Saturday 14th December 2024, all Christians to come at the Harmony Hub (bandstand) in Ballymena as one huge flashmob, between 12noon and 1pm, to sing Carols and shine their lights, together, for Jesus.
