Members of the Ballymena Church Members Forum have contacted us with news of a walk and also an exhibition which takes place over the next few weeks.
The Forum’s Chairperson, Jennifer McLernon, told The Church Page:
“You’ll be aware that the Forum has given emphasis to environmental issues in our activities over the last few years. The topic of climate change is increasingly in our news headlines. The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference is due to begin in Glasgow on Sunday 31st October 2021 and ends on Friday 12th November 2021.
“With all this in mind you and your friends are invited to join us on a focussed COP 26 Prayer Walk in Ballymena on Saturday morning 30th October 2021.
“Our member and friend Canon Stuart Lloyd will lead the walk which will start at 10am and last for about one hour. Please assemble at the corner of Castle Street/Bridge Street and come prepared for whatever the weather conditions look like in Ballymena on the day!
Exhibition details
“An Exhibition which marks the centenary of Northern Ireland will open in the Braid Centre on Friday 22nd October 2021 and run for several weeks on Mondays to Fridays (inclusive) – 10am to 3pm. This is part of the NI100 Programme ‘Looking Back to Look Forward in Mid and East Antrim’. Several members of the Forum contributed to this with 3 short video presentations describing something of church life in Ballymena in 1921. We drew mainly on case-studies of the Moravian Church in Gracehill, the parish of Kilconriola and Ballyclug, and West Church.”
