The Changing Room Cullybackey has recently opened for business on Main Street in the village. So what is The Changing Room? It is a charity shop which aims to raise money for Christian Aid. In fact the Cullybackey branch is only the second such shop to open in the whole of the UK, the first being in Garvagh.
The shop is run by a team of committed volunteers. The money raised there will help fund Christian Aid’s worldwide projects. The hard work of getting The Changing Room Cullybackey up and running has been thanks to the efforts of local couple and Christian Aid volunteers, Oonagh and Michael Dalton. The premises opened on 7th December 2018, with Michael and Oonagh taking on the role of Volunteer Shop Managers. We called with them recently to find out more. They said,
“Michael and I have been involved with Christian Aid for many years, from sponsored walks when growing up in Whitehead to door to door collections whilst we lived in Ballymena. Michael is now involved in organising the Christian Aid envelope collection in the village each May.”
They felt God was calling them to this new project and after much hard work The Changing Room is now open.

You will find the new shop at 69 Main Street, Cullybackey. Look out for the red, white and cream exterior decor. Many months of hard work have been done to bring this close to 200 year old building back to life again. The interior and exterior are fresh and welcoming.
Oonagh said, “We have a fabulous selection of new and preloved goods for sale and will accept donations of all good quality items that are suitable for resale. We are grateful to the local community for their support as we begin this fundraising project for Christian Aid.”
