An ‘old skool’ aerobics night at Pure Wellness Gym is taking place on Tuesday, 7th March 2017. The aerobics night is being held to support Aundrea Bannatyne. Aundrea is a County Antrim mum who is fighting pancreatic cancer. The event is taking place from 7:00pm until 8:30pm at Pure Wellness Gym which is part of Green Pastures Church, Galgorm.
No admission will be charged but all donations given will be used to help Aundrea get much needed treatment.
Aundrea is planning to travel to Germany for what she hopes will be life-saving treatment.
For everyone who doesn’t know her, here is Aundrea’s story.
Aundrea is 42 and a mother to two young boys. She is vibrant , funny , caring, the soul of any party and a good friend to all she meets. Above all Aundrea is a fighter because eight years ago she had to fight cancer on behalf of her two-year-old son James. He was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumour. As a parent her world collapsed. Within a week of being diagnosed James had his first brain operation, lasting 10 gruelling hours. This was followed by a further four brain operations, ten intense courses of chemotherapy and 25 blasts of radiotherapy. All this within a year of diagnosis!
Her role as a mother changed to that of a nurse. She had to learn how to feed her son through the tube in his nose and clean his central line. Also she needed to inject him daily in his leg and force the countless amounts of tablets and medicine into him. Aundrea not only had to endure this, but she also had to take care of her oldest son Jack, at home.
Since James’ diagnosis Aundrea has campaigned tirelessly to raise much needed funds, and awareness for the horrible disease that is Cancer.
What’s more, as of July 2016, Aundrea herself has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her family, friends and supporters have become known as ‘Aundrea’s Army’ – #AundreasArmy . They are asking for your help to raise vital funds for treatment options.
