Green Pastures Mamma Mia Sing Along For Swaziland is a fundraiser they are holding on Monday, 31st October 2016 from 7:00pm. They have organised this special screening of Mamma Mia – The Movie at the Jet Centre, Coleraine.
This event will be a fundraiser for the Church’s forthcoming missionary trips to Swaziland.
Swaziland is a small landlocked monarchy in Southern Africa. It borders Mozambique to the north east and stretches right down to South Africa.
During July and August 2017, two 17-strong all aged teams will travel there under the leadership of Pastor Jonny Mullan and his wife, Michelle.
Throughout their stay, the visitors will be working in partnership with Challenge Ministries in Swaziland. They are a movement which grew out of Teen Challenge. It helps people to overcome addictions and other life-controlling problems.
Pastor Jonny has visited Swaziland multiple times for the past decade. He is very excited at the prospect of taking the teams to Africa. “It’s going to be great”, he told The Church Page.
“There are families going and we are looking forward to seeing what God is going to do through us and in us. Although we go to Swaziland to serve others you always find that the faith of people out there is so strong that you are the one who ends up being blessed”, he added.
When they reach Swaziland, the teams plan to visit churches and work in the community. They will be involved by running kid’s clubs, undertaking prayer walks and helping orphans who have lost their parents because of the AIDS virus.
They will also be lending a hand at a women’s centre. It is like the Freedom House project at Green Pastures, as well as spending time at an abandoned babies unit.
The fundraising event will also give movie-goers an opportunity to support the team as they plan for what will be a life-changing expedition.
