With just under 11 weeks until Christmas, Food For Today is asking for Christmas donations. The Food For Today initiative is appealing for extra donations to enable them to help more people in the run up to Christmas time. This is part of the Gospel Bus Ministry, and based beside it’s Portable Tabernacle close to the Seven Towers roundabout in Ballymena.
Most of us can look forward to a massive turkey dinner and loads of culinary delights over the festive period. However, not everyone will be so lucky, hundreds of families and individuals across the province will face hunger over Christmas and new year. Particularly on account of low income, sickness, unemployment or the impact of addiction.
For this reason, Richard Bell, who co-founded the Gospel Bus Ministry alongside his wife Joyce said,
“We need all the basic but essential foodstuffs such as cheese, ham, sausages, milk along with tinned or dried items like pasta or soup. We can also provide toiletries such as toothpaste or washing powder.
Christmas foods such as puddings, pickles, cranberry sauce and other condiments are also needed. We really want to ensure that people who are less fortunate than ourselves have enough provisions during what can be a busy and expensive time of year”, added Richard.
Anyone who might benefit from the Food For Today project can apply to access this service themselves by contacting either Richard Bell or Kathryn Ballie. Doctors, social workers or other professions can also approach the project on behalf of people they know who could benefit from it.
Food For Today is asking for Christmas donations so they can support those who need it. Can you help with some food items or toiletries?
Donations of food and toiletries will be gladly received but anything that is given must be fresh and ‘in date’.
Richard, Joyce and the team appeal to people not to abuse the service but they are keen that anyone who really needs it should come forward without feeling embarrassment. They will talk to you privately – you will not have to disclose your circumstances to a crowd of strangers.
You can access the Food For Today project by telephoning Richard on 07753 240 113 or Kathryn on 07596 000076. You can also keep up to date with the Gospel Bus Ministry run by the team here.
