Rev Maureen Hassard leaves Ballymena Methodist Church shortly to take up a new appointment on the South Belfast circuit. Maureen, who has occupied the pulpit at since July 2009, will conduct her last services at the Ballymoney Road fellowship on Sunday, 26th June 2016 at 11.00am and 6.00pm.
As Rev Maureen Hassard leaves Ballymena Methodist she reflects on her time with the Ballymena congregation.
Recalling some of the ‘many, many, many’ highlights of her years in Ballymena, Maureen began by saying: “Working with Ballymena Borough Council Creative Citizens Programme to bring The Methodist Art Collection to the Braid for a number of weeks was a highlight. Working together with nine other Churches in the town to make this happen was a particular thrill.”
“Involvement with the Inter Church Forum throughout my time here and in particular the involvement with a cross community team who travelled to Ethiopia to take part in building work. As a result many cherished friendships were developed”, smiled Maureen.
She went on say: “I leave a church family who care for one another but also a family who are taking seriously the command of Jesus to “Go & Make Disciples”
It has been a real privilege to journey with them all over the past seven years but the journey does move on for us all.”
Talking about her new charge, Maureen added: “I move to Ballynafeigh in South Belfast to take charge of four churches on that Circuit. Ballymena will welcome Rev Dr. David Rock on Sunday 3rd July. David has led the Youth Department of the Methodist Church in Ireland for the last 15 years. He is originally from Larne. His parents are members of Cullybackey Methodist Church. David is passionate in his desire “to serve the present age.”
The Church Page would like to wish her God’s blessing as Rev Maureen Hassard leaves Ballymena Methodist to move on to a new phase in her life.
