Adopt A Child has always been very well supported in Northern Ireland and they are now planning an Adopt A Child Fundraising Concert to help children in Guatemala.
This life-changing project works towards it’s ambition to meet the physical needs of children by feeding them at one of its nine feeding programmes in Guatemala and giving free medical and dental treatment as required.
The mission also seeks to meet their spiritual needs by taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the children, through Bible and Discipleship programmes.
At the moment, the ministry urgently needs to raise money to enable the purchase of a new or nearly new 4 x 4 Toyota vehicle which will have a four-fold purpose.
It will be used to transport food from the mission’s Chixicol kitchens up the mountain to its four mountain feeding programmes in the Quiche region of Guatemala, where they serve food to approximately 5,000 children twice daily.
Secondly, the carrier will also be used to transport Adopt-A-Child’s Guatemalan evangelism teams to those same mountain areas to teach in the Bible and Discipleship Programmes.
Thirdly, the truck is also needed to transport those who visit the project to see God at work.
Fourthly, it will also enable evangelism team workers to go and see the families of the children reached by the feeding and discipleship programmes, so that the Gospel can be shared with them too.
A concert in support of vehicle-purchasing initiative for Adopt A Child will take place in Coleraine Baptist Church, Abbey Street, Coleraine on Saturday, 20th February 2016.
Country-Gospel Group of the Year, Live Issue, are heading the gig alongside guest vocalist, Laura Dowey.
Doors will open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start. A suggested minimum donation of £10 per person is requested. Light refreshments will be provided.
Another way you can help a child, and help the Adopt A Child ministry is to sponsor one of the children and thus pay for their food and any medical/dental treatment they receive. Sponsorship costs £18.00 per month. If you would like to help in this way contact Scott Ballantine on 028 2954 0770 or 07552 788120 or scottb-aac@lwintl.org
