This year’s ‘Sparkers’ want to thank and praise God for Spark 2016 outreach success. Around 250 young people took part in last week’s annual Spark Ballymena summer outreach.
Persistent rain failed to dampen the spirits of teams in the various areas of Ballee, Broughshane, Doury Road, Dunclug, Fisherwick, Kells, Portglenone, Tullygarley, not forgetting Ballymena Town Centre.
Lawns were mowed, gardens weeded, alley-ways cleared and lots of other jobs done in various parts of our town and beyond.
Countless children also heard God’s Word at various Kid’s Clubs, senior citizens were reached in Folds or their own homes, while mums and dads enjoyed some ‘me’ time at pamper nights and events for lads.
Each area also held Fun Days for the communities in which they served. Most of these were well attended by people who enjoyed music, games and of course, the obligatory bouncy castle and BBQ.
As well as helping people in their respective areas, each of the young ‘Sparkers’ enjoyed the opportunity to make friends and worship God every morning at High Kirk.
Spark veteran, Steve McGall also provided food for thought from Paul’s words from the book of Colossians throughout each of the five main days.
Worship was made all the more rousing by the superb Spark worship band who lifted God higher every day.
Members of Spark were also blessed by members of the Prayer team, who laid their needs and endeavours faithfully before God constantly throughout the week.
Parents, relatives and friends had the opportunity to find out more about what happened during Spark at a special Service of Thanksgiving, which happened on the final Sunday evening at High Kirk.

Giving thanks to God for everything that He did during Spark Ballymena 2016, Matthew Boyd, said: “We have had an amazing week and have watched God move in so many ways – we expect that lives have been and will be changed by what He has done through each one of our volunteers this week.”
“Of course, Spark would not have been possible without the support of various churches in all of the areas who provided food, equipment, storage facilities and bases for our teams. We say a very big thank you to them all.”
