Ballykeel Presbyterian Church is showing it’s support for the persecuted church this weekend. A series of meetings and events has been planned from Friday 6th until Sunday 8th May, 2016. The weekend, organised in partnership with Open Doors, will focus on and highlight the worldwide persecuted church. Open Doors is a mission support group who work across the world supporting persecuted Christians and churches.
While much debate continues about the role of the Church in western democracies, the local Presbyterian congregation is dedicating the whole weekend to focus on persecuted Christians around the world with the following events taking place –
- The meetings and events are aimed for all ages, starting with a youth fellowship focus on the Friday evening.
- On Saturday at 10am there will be a prayer and coffee morning during which members will learn about the top 5 most persecuted countries in which to live as a Christian today.
- During Saturday afternoon there will be a family picnic, with an opportunity to see a famous VW Beetle in which thousands of Bibles were smuggled in to Soviet lands.
- The weekend concludes with two services on the Sunday, which aim to reflect what life is like for suffering Christians around the world.
Minister of Ballykeel, Rev Martin McNeely commented:
“This is a very significant weekend for us as we seek to partner in a very tangible way with believers suffering the worst of persecution. For us it is a time of learning but also humbling as we learn to grow in faith, love and prayer for fellow believers around the world.”
Ballykeel Presbyterian focusses on the worldwide persecuted church with a weekend of meetings and events from 6th to 8th May. These will be held in partnership with Open Doors.
