Ballymena woman, Joye Carson is planning a joye-ful walk for The Smiles Foundation Romania . She plans to mark the start of her sixth decade by raising funds for The Smiles Foundation, a charity very close to her heart. Most people start to think about taking life easy when they reach their 60th birthday, but that certainly won’t be the case for Joye as she takes on this remarkable challenge.
The committed Christian plans to thank God for all His goodness to her by completing a 60-mile sponsored walk – one mile for each year of her life – along the beautiful North Antrim Coast, with all the proceeds going to The Smiles Foundation Romania.
She plans to walk from Larne to Portstewart in just five days, starting on Easter Monday 28th March 2016 and finishing on Friday 1st April, and in doing so hopes to generate lots of money for this wonderful cause.
Joye says: “The idea is to raise a minimum of £5000 to build a house in Romania (which is what it would cost) for a family that would otherwise be homeless.”
“I then hope to go out to Romania with The Smiles Foundation next July to help build the house. I am so excited to see how God will carry this adventure through”, she adds.
