PCI Moderator celebrates 200th Anniversary of Glenwherry Presbyterian Church
Over the last twelve months the congregation of Glenwherry Presbyterian Church in Co Antrim have been giving thanks for the 200th anniversary of their fellowship formed in 1823.
Several former ministers have returned to take part in services over that period and the celebrations concluded with a visit from the current Moderator of the General Assembly, Rev Dr Sam Mawhinney and his wife, Karen on Sunday 7th January 2023.
Rev Trevor Kane, who presently occupies the pulpit at Glenwherry told The Church Page:
“We were delighted this morning in Glenwherry to welcome the Moderator of the General Assembly the Rev Dr Sam Mawhinney along with his wife Karen to lead our first service of worship in 2024. It is the first time since Saturday 5th December 1998 that we have had the privilege of a Moderatorial visit. The Moderator spoke on Psalm 4. We wish you both well as you continue representing our Church during your year in office.”
Dr Mawhinney is pictured here with his wife Karen and also in the featured photo with Rev Kane, minister of Glenwherry and Andrew Hoey, Clerk of Session at the fellowship.
