T.H.R.I.V.E is longstanding series of fortnightly meetings which will convene in their new location of The Venue, 7-11 Broughshane Street, Ballymena BT43 6EB from Saturday 17th September 2022.
Regulars will know that T.H.R.I.VE is open to both men and women – T.H.R.I.V.E stands for Together Healing Restoring Improving Visiting Encouraging.
Explaining the heart behind this new initiative, Rick and Cindy Johnston told The Church Page:
“The acrostic for THRIVE is:
T – To tackle loneliness
H – We look forward to how the Lord is going to heal us mentally/physically/spiritually & emotionally
R – This is bringing back something to its former glory “He restores my soul” Psalm 23 v 3
I – Looking after ourselves by improving our lifestyle / diet / sleep and rest
V – Visiting others that are lonely / sick / hurting – Outreach
E – Giving people support / confidence.”
The couple when on to say: “Actually, THRIVE has been going for around seven years!
Our meeting in The Venue is a new location for us. It began as a ministry in the home of Heather who has a heart for those who are alone and need fellowship. We then met in Broughshane House for a few years before COVID.
During lockdown we met periodically at Houston’s Mill for socially distanced picnics, always trying to stay in touch with folks.
We then met at Red Brick, until they closed their doors a few weeks ago. Even prior to that we had enquired about meetings at The Venue, it was the Lord’s perfect timing”, they added.
T.H.R.I.V.E will run from 12noon-2pm on the following dates in 2022:
• Saturday 17th September 2022
• Saturday 1st, 15th and 29th October 2022
• Saturday 12th and 26th November 2022
• Saturday 10th December 2022
This group is affiliated with Calvary Braid Valley a non-denominational church who meet Sundays at 11am in The Hub, 1st Floor, Broughshane House, 70 Main Street, Broughshane.
