The Mustardseed 100 outreach centre in Cullybackey is described as ‘in the community, for the community’. Based at 84a Main Street in the village, The Mustardseed 100 is open to everyone who wants to call in. The centre officially opened on Saturday 10th November 2018.
The Mustardseed 100 is a very welcoming space. It provides a place to chill out, to chat, to play a game of pool or table tennis. There’s a selection of Christian books available to read while you relax on one of the comfy sofas. Or you might want to sit with a coffee and listen to some Christian music. There will always be someone on hand if you want someone to talk to.
The centre is run by volunteers from Cullybackey Elim Church. We called in to have a chat with Alister Dunlop and Alastair Millar. They said,
“Our church was looking for suitable premises in the heart of the village to open a centre for the whole community to use. The opportunity arose after these premises became vacant when the bookshop closed. We are very much open to all – old and young – families and those living alone – the whole community! We wanted to create a place where the lonely could come and have company, where young people could meet each other for some fun. Where families could come to spend an evening out of the house. Also a space where people, if they wish, could discuss Jesus and what it means to follow Him.”
Current opening times
“We open from 8am -12noon on weekday mornings (Mon – Fri) and have already saw lots of the local kids call in on their way to school. We are also open every weekday afternoon from 2.30pm – 5.30pm. In the evenings we are open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm – 10.30pm. We have coffee and a few snacks available but we are next door to Blessings Coffee Shop if you need something more substantial. They are open daily from 8am and also late on Fridays.”
