Hope and a Future Charity Shop in Randalstown – Book Section
Hope and a Future Charity Shop in Randalstown is appealing for donations of Christian books. They would like to expand the amount of Christian literature available in their book section.
Kevin Keenan, who runs the Christian charity alongside his wife, Christine, contacted the Church Page to asked for donations. They are asking for quality Christian volumes in good condition, to be left in at the organisation’s main shop. This is located at 5-7 Main Street in Randalstown. Please mark your donations for Kevin’s attention.
Explaining why he and Christine wish to enlarge their ‘reading’ section, Kevin explained:
“The request for books is to create opportunities for our local people here to pick up Christian literature. We hope this will encourage interest to know more about the Lord and Christian perspectives.”
Hope and a Future’s work in Africa.
Hope and a Future also works with people in Shashemene, one of the poorest regions in Ethiopia. Its central aim is to fulfil the words of Jeremiah 29, verse 11 through the provision of education.
To date, the charity has founded two schools in the area. One of these is officially recognised by the Ethiopian government as the nation’s third best educational establishment.
Each day, the 520 boys and girls educated by Hope and a Future are given the chance to develop academically as well as enjoy a nourishing meal and be trained in basic hygiene. This last aspect of the charity’s work has led to a dramatic reduction in death rates amongst young people in the region.
