First Ballymena Church Services for the Polish Community
First Ballymena Presbyterian Church hold monthly church services for the Polish community living in the Ballymena area. The next one will take place on Sunday 25th March 2018, beginning at 5:30pm.
These meetings are organised by Kasia Lamont. She is originally from Poland but now lives in Ballymena with her husband, Geoffrey, and their young children, Erin and Daniel.
First Ballymena Church services for the Polish community are held each month.
Kasia explains that the format of each service is very simple and easy to follow. She said:
“We begin by singing a couple of worship songs in Polish. The lyrics for these are always displayed on a large screen. Then we hear a reading from the Bible before I give a short talk to the children.
This is followed by a break for tea and coffee when the children go to creche.
The second part of our service includes worship, a testimony or short film as well as a sermon from Robert and a closing prayer.”
These services began after First Ballymena church ran an Alpha Course in the Polish language. This was attended by 13 or 14 people and it was decided that the Church would like to continue to reach out to its Polish friends in the town.
Importantly, Kasia stresses that the aim of the services is to show the love of Jesus to her compatriots. No-one is made to pray or give their heart to the Lord before they are ready. People can go to the meetings, listen and then enjoy meeting friends there afterwards. Bible studies in Polish have also taken place.
Last Christmas, a traditional Polish festive dinner, featuring 12 courses, was served to people from their who live in Ballymena. Each child received a gift from Santa and everyone enjoyed singing carols in Polish.
Everyone at First Ballymena church family is keen to show love to the Polish people to live here. Kasia’s message to you is simple:
“If you want to come and join us, the next church service in Polish is on Sunday 25th March 2018. We will be happy to see you. You can just come and see what is going on and see how you feel.”
