Mission Africa service in Carnlea Mission Hall on Monday 3rd April at 8:00pm. The speaker is Mr Billy Abwa from Nigeria.
Here’s a short profile on Billy. He is no stranger to Northern Ireland. In fact, he has a special link with us in that his wife, Linda, is from here! Billy was born and brought up in Jos, Nigeria. He spent his younger years in a typical Nigerian community, seeing the material and spiritual needs there. He went to university to study Zoology but declined several career opportunities in that field. Billy was sure God was calling him to make a difference in Nigerian communities. In 2002 he began working with Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) with their AIDS education ministry. He travelled throughout Nigeria teaching HIV prevention to church congregations and their role in caring for those already affected by HIV/AIDS.
Linda knew God was calling her to work abroad so she began working with Mission Africa at the Spring of Life HIV/AIDS counselling and care centre in Jos, Billy’s home town. They met shortly after this and in 2006 the couple were married in Northern Ireland! They now have two children, Nathaniel and Niah.
So Billy is no stranger to Northern Ireland! He and the rest of the Mission Africa representatives will warmly welcome you to the hall if you are available to go along on the night.
