Summer Update From Spud Bears Ministry
Here is the latest summer update from Spud Bears Ministry which was set up by Mission Aviation Fellowship worker, Colin Davis. Its aim is to give a cuddly teddy bear to a child in every hospital where M.A.F is active.
In addition, they also seeks to provide solar powered talking animatronic bears to a clinic or orphanage. These are used to read bible stories and share God’s love along with preventive health care with the children who are not able to read and have no one to read to them.
In the following Summer update from Spud Bears Ministry, Colin updates us on how this very important work is progressing.
“Hello and I hope you have been enjoying the summer so far. I would like to say a huge thank you for everyone who helped with the special appeal towards the next generation Talking Spud Bears. We are now closer than ever to being able to begin the design process. I will keep you updated in future articles
In Matthew chapter 14, we read about how Jesus fed the Five Thousand.
v16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” v17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. v18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. v19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. v20 They all ate and were satisfied.
In this passage we learn that in the hands of Jesus the smallest of things, in this case a young boy’s packed lunch, is able to be miraculously multiplied to be a blessing to over five thousand people and bring glory to God. This passage is very close to myself and is a daily encouragement to me and Spud Bears Ministry. In the way that in the hands of the Lord, something as small as a Teddy Bear can be such a huge blessing, witness to thousands of children and bring Glory to God when given in His name.
Here you can see a picture of Robyn she lives in a Baby Home in Jinja, she had been badly burnt before arriving in the home. and had not yet started to walk. The first steps she took were holding her favourite toy the little sheep she had received from Spud Bear Ministries and now the two are inseparable.
Below is picture a Nafuna, she was found on a rubbish tip badly malnourished and dehydrated we believe she had been there for over a day alone, before she was found. Now she is safe and cared for and is never alone as she goes everywhere with her teddy. Both these children have now got a chance of a future and they also now have a Teddy bear to hold, hug and be with them. These little teddies are given with love in the name of Jesus as a blessing and a symbol of the True, Unfailing and Perfect love that he has for them.
I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of the all the children to you, for your kindness and support that makes the work we do possible.” Colin concluded.
