Lifeline Ministries Cake Sale And Coffee Morning
Two separate fundraising events – Lifeline Ministries Cake Sale and Coffee Morning will take place simultaneously on Saturday, 30th April 2016 to support the local charity, especially their work in Kenya.
The Cake Sale will be held in the mall between McNeill’s Hardware shop and the Vivo supermarket in Broughshane, (the area from the Main Street to the car-park at the back of the shop) from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
At the same start time but going on an hour longer, the Coffee Morning is set to take place in Wellington Church cafe between 10.00am – 2.00pm.
Two events – two venues but all proceeds generated by these 2 fundraising events will support a mission trip to Kenya in August when a team of ten people will go to share the gospel.
The Birth of Lifeline Ministries
Lifeline Ministries was founded by local man, Wesley Kerr, who first visited Africa in April 2002.
Since that time he has travelled south to Kenya on multiple missions, planting churches, establishing nurseries, ministering, praying for those who are sick and oppressed by the devil, preaching and teaching, helping his brothers and sisters grow in the knowledge of the Word of God.
In October 2003 after ministering at a boys boarding school in Rabuor, Wesley was walking back to the orphanage where he was staying, in Kisumu, Kenya. It was at that time God spoke to him to start Lifeline Ministries.
Many years prior to this, Wesley was in a meeting, where the preacher, Dan Chesney, called him out of his seat and prayed over him. The Lord said that like King David at Adulums Cave, Wesley would receive those with needs, who had been discontented, in debt and so on, and that he would be able to help them move onward from that place of despair.
“David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.” 1 Samuel 22v1-2 KJV
This is the heart of Lifeline Ministries, helping people move from a place of no hope to a place of hope, from a place of life without Christ to a place of being a son and daughter of God, from a place of discontentment and not enough, to being at peace and fully supplied.
In 2008 whilst spending time in the Word of God, the Lord spoke to Wesley through Isaiah 54:2-3, about growth and expansion. In May that year they planted the first Lifeline church in Kenya, leading on to six more. Along with the churches, six nursery schools that facilitate the ministering and teaching of young children have been established.
Up ahead are more church plants, nurseries and growth into the primary school sector.
